General Questions

Household hazardous waste includes common products in your home, garage, yard or workshop that may be harmful to people or the environment if handled or discarded improperly. Examples include paint, automotive fluids, pesticides, cleaners, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and certain electronics.

We accept many common household products, including paint and solvents, lawn and garden chemicals, automotive fluids, lead-acid batteries, household cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, mercury-containing devices, select electronics and certain propane, CO2 and helium cylinders. We do not accept unknown or unlabeled containers, empty containers, containers larger than 5 gal, regular trash, commercial or industrial waste, radioactive materials, smoke detectors, ammunition, fireworks, flares, explosives, prescription medications, large appliances, asbestos, tires, medical waste, sharps or reactive materials. Only the specific cylinders listed on our Accepted Items page are permitted.

First, purchase your reusable IGotHHW bag. Your kit includes a clear liner, zip ties and packing instructions. Fill the bag with accepted household hazardous waste, secure the liner with the provided zip tie and choose either door-to-door pickup or delivery to a participating collection site.

After collection, your reusable bag will be returned to you with a new liner and zip tie so you can use it again. If you already have your HHW packed and ready to go, you can drop off your HHW at a collection site anytime, no IGotHHW bag required. Click here to learn more.

The initial price is for the reusable IGotHHW bag. Your actual collection/disposal cost is separate and will be determined when you schedule a door-to-door pickup or when you deliver your items to a participating collection site. Drop-off customers can prepay online or pay by credit card at the collection site.

Ordering & Bag

Select Order Bag and follow the checkout instructions. Your kit will include one reusable IGotHHW bag, one clear liner, zip ties and printed packing instructions.

The total weight of the filled bag cannot exceed 70 pounds. Keep containers upright whenever possible, make sure all lids and caps are tightly sealed and do not pour liquids directly into the bag or mix chemicals together.

You may purchase additional reusable bags if you need more capacity. Each filled bag must remain within the 70-pound weight limit. Larger accepted items that do not fit inside the bag may be added separately as a la carte items.

Delivery timing will be provided during checkout and confirmed after your order has been processed.

Pickup & Drop Off

Select Door-to-Door Pickup and add to Cart, and follow the instructions, select desired week of service, and complete payment. you will receive an email with your exact collection date and time.

Pack all accepted materials inside the clear liner, place the liner inside your reusable IGotHHW bag and secure it with the provided zip tie. The filled bag cannot exceed 70 pounds.

On collection day, place your bag and any approved a la carte items outside by your front door in a visible, easily accessible location before 7:00 a.m. You do not need to be home.

Do not place materials behind a fence or locked gate, inside a home, garage or shed, in a lobby or common area, on a public sidewalk or next to trash and recycling containers.

After collection, we will leave your empty reusable bag and a new liner.

To reschedule your pickup, request a cancellation or make changes to your selected collection date, call 1-855-I-GOT-HAZ (1-855-446-8429).

To pre-pay for your Collection Site drop off, select Prepaid Collection Site Drop Off, add to cart, follow instructions and complete payment. Confirm the location’s days and hours of operation before visiting. No appointment is required and you may arrive anytime during operating hours. After drop-off, you will receive a new liner and zip tie for your reusable bag.

Collected materials are identified, sorted and directed to the appropriate recycling, recovery, treatment or disposal method. All materials are managed by trained environmental professionals in accordance with applicable regulations.
